As well as the ability to play bass [bottom of the piano] mids [middle] and high notes [top end]. This gave me the freedom to express myself at a wider range. I figured I could surely stir up some emotions if I learned how to play the piano. It was only one problem.......we couldn't afford a piano, of course. But coming from the hood, we couldn't even afford piano lessons. We didn't even have it in our school systems, so music theory in a whole went right out the windows for people like me all over Michigan.
So what did I do? I skipped classes and went to the vacant dusted piano rooms in basements of apartments, clubs, and old schools. Anywhere I could think of. How did I learn to make music? From studying my Motown history, I sooned learned that Stevie Wonder, one of the greatest musicians of all time was blind and he couldn't read music himself, so that gave me a little hope that anything was possible.
What was my teacher? Music, My Soul, My Spirit, My Drive, and My Hands. I started reproducing song after song after song after song. If it was orchestra, I reproduced it, Jazz! reproduced it, R&B, reproduced it............CONTINUE
